Statement on fan behaviour

Chelsea Football Club has received confirmation that two supporters arrested in possession of flares at the Premier League match against Liverpool last month have received three-year Football Banning Orders, preventing them attending any matches in England and Wales.

In view of the seriousness of such behaviour, Chelsea Football Club has imposed an additional club ban for a further two years, thus preventing them attending Stamford Bridge for five years in total.

The club wishes to remind all supporters the presence of flares and fireworks at football matches is banned by law, and we work closely with police and staff at other grounds to ensure such offences and dangerous behaviour is prevented.

As part of our commitment to maintain a positive atmosphere at Stamford Bridge and at away games, we also liaise with the Chelsea FC Fans’ Forum and the Chelsea Disabled Supporters Association (CDSA).

The Forum has been running for 12 years and the CDSA for eight years, with both aiming to establish a dialogue between the club and fans, develop a better understanding of issues that affect supporters and provide an opportunity for the club to discuss new ideas with fans.

Fresh targets for Willian in new mag

The latest edition of Chelsea, available now in print and digital format, features an in-depth interview with Willian who looks ahead to next season and working under incoming manager Antonio Conte.

The club’s official magazine also hears from former player and current Under-21s assistant manager Andy Myers as well as musician Kirk Brandon, and there is a reflective feature on the summer of 1996 when Ruud Gullit took charge of the Blues.

Though the 2015/16 campaign was a disappointing one overall, the performances of Willian during the course of the season undoubtedly caught the eye and it came as little surprise when the Brazilian picked up both the Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year prizes.

He finished last season with 11 goals in all competitions, seven more than in each of his previous two campaigns at the club.

‘I put it in my head when I arrived at Chelsea that I always have to keep improving my game and I think I’m doing that,’ Willian tells Chelsea. ‘I just focus on playing better from one game to the next and improving season by season, so I hope that next season I will play even better than I have been so far.

‘Sometimes it was difficult to play well last season, as our team performances in some games weren’t as good as we wanted them to be, but when you don’t play well you have to fight and do everything to win that game. I think I am always doing that and I have to continue doing it.’

Conte and Courtois’ mixed emotions

Italy’s victory over Belgium last night yielded frustration for goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois but plenty of satisfaction for our incoming head coach Antonio Conte.

The Italian boss masterminded his country’s success over the much-fancied Belgians in Lyon, deploying a wing-back system which served to help his players offer an attacking threat while neutralising Belgium’s danger men.

Stifled for long periods by some resolute Italian defending, the team captained by Eden Hazard could find no way through, eventually succumbing 2-0 after an entertaining contest. There might have been more Italian goals were it not for the fine keeping of Courtois, officially Belgium’s best player on the night. The Chelsea man had no complaints.

‘It was they who had the best chances,’ Courtois told uefa.com. ‘They were organised and tactically they were the better team.

‘I’m really disappointed. I don’t think we did enough except towards the end when we created a few chances but not enough to score.

‘It was a really tough game. They defended really well. I don’t think they created any real clear-cut chances to kill off the game. The last goal was a counter-attack and it came from a second ball, which we weren’t solid enough to go and claim. They were quicker to it than us, so on Saturday we need to go out there and do more.’

Belgium take on Ireland at the weekend but before then Italy will have a chance to notch up another win, Sweden their opponents on Friday afternoon. Conte spoke of his emotions after guiding his country to victory but warned against getting carried away.

‘I’ve been repeating from the beginning – and I’m not one to tell lies – that this is a group first and foremost of men, and then of footballers,’ he said.

‘That’s important because in a tournament like this you need an alchemy of people who get on well together, and the biggest satisfaction for me is to see how happy they all were, including those on the bench. There’s a very good spirit in this squad.

‘Having said that, we have to prepare for Sweden because the memory of two years ago is still fresh, when we did well against England and then lost [to Costa Rica at the World Cup]. That’s a wound which remains in the minds of our players and fans.

‘We have big intentions and our objective remains the same, to get into the last 16,’ Conte continued. ‘The objective is to get where we deserve to be, without any regrets. I think the fans are pleased when they see 23 players giving everything on the field and being willing to spill blood.

‘I cannot deny that I was very, very emotional – to be coach of a country in such a big tournament doesn’t happen every day. It’s something special for the lads to wear this shirt, but I’d like to say also that with this unity of intention, we can do great things.’

For Courtois and his Belgian teammates, the revised target is clear.

‘We have to win the other two matches and be a better team,’ he stressed.

‘The first match is always very important, especially against a team like Italy – if you win that, then you’re in a good position. But we’re lucky the other match [between Ireland and Sweden] ended 1-1. Now we have to go out and win on Saturday.’

CHELSEA EYE MANDANDA

Chelsea are in talks with Marseille ‘keeper Steve Mandanda, 31, according to reports in the Guardian.

The Blues are understood to want the France international, who will be out of contract at the end of this month, to act as back-up to No. 1 Thibaut Courtois next season.

CHELSEA TARGET RUDIGER

Chelsea are interested in signing Roma centre-back Antonio Rudiger this summer, according to reports on Repubblica.it.

The Germany international recently tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee while training with his country at Euro 2016.

However, that has not prevented the Blues from registering their interest in A player they value at €20m.

The Giallorossi, though, are believed to be determined to keep the 23-year-old – who has a contract at the Stadio Olimpico until the end of June 2020 – in the Italian capital next season.

CHELSEA AND CITY WANT €60M BONUCCI

Chelsea and Man City are both hoping to lure Juventus central defender Leonardo Bonucci to the Premier League next season, says Corriere dello Sport.

However, it is believed that the Serie A champions are desperate to keep the Italy international, 29, out of the duo’s clutches.

As a result, Juve have placed a whopping €60m price tag on the defender’s head.

Valencia reject Chelsea bid for Andre Gomes, according to Sky sources

Chelsea have had a £32m bid rejected by Valencia for their Portugal international Andre Gomes, according to Sky sources.

It is understood Valencia are keen to drive up the fee for Gomes, due to a sell-on clause between themselves and his former club Benfica.

It is a stance that has left Valencia and Chelsea approximately £10m apart in their valuation of the player.

Eden Hazard admits he wants Radja Nainggolan to complete Chelsea Move

Eden Hazard has admitted that he wants Radja Nainggolan to move to Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
Reports suggest the Blues have made a third bid for the Roma midfielder, with Antonio Conte known to be an avid admirer of the 28-year-old.
Nainggolan claimed he had spoken with his Belgium teammates Thibaut Courtois and Hazard, and the latter has now confirmed he’s keen for his compatriot to arrive at Stamford Bridge.
‘I think Radja Nainggolan is one of the best in the world, so with Thibaut Courtois we’d love him to come to Chelsea,’ Hazard said at a press conference on Sunday.
‘Of course, it doesn’t depend on us.’
It’s understood Chelsea may have to shell out around £35million for Nainggolan if they are to be successful in landing him.

Chelsea loanee to stay in Serie A, but not with Napoli

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea Academy prospect Nathaniel Chalobah is a potential transfer target of Serie A club Torino FC. The report does not state whether they’re looking to loan or to buy.

Chalobah only made 9 appearances for Napoli last season on a one-year loan spell, with 3 of them in the Europa League. Despite that lack of action, the 21-year-old seemed to be well liked and there were even some rumblings that Napoli were looking to keep him. But it would appear that he’s heading back to Chelsea … unless, as the report goes, the non-Juventus club in Turin, and their new manager Sinisa Mihajlovic, decide to act on their interest.

Three years ago Chalobah returned to Cobham after a highly successful loan spell at then-Championship club Watford. He looked very close to taking that final step towards the Chelsea first-team, but was sent out on one more loan to help him get there. After unremarkable spells at Nothingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Burnley, Reading, and now Napoli, he remains at least one step away still.

Chalobah, who has two years left on his Chelsea contract, put in a series of excellent performances at this summer’s Toulon Tournament against players 21 and younger. He’s clearly progressed beyond that level a long time ago. Would Torino be a place where he could take this mythical final step? He’s not going to be a kid forever…

Chelsea talks possible – Koulibaly

Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly says he may start negotiations with Chelsea manager Antonio Conte over a possible summer move. Chelsea are set to be busy in the transfer market and their new boss has already drawn up a long list of players he wants brought to Stamford Bridge. Everton’s John Stones, Roma’s Kostas Manolas and Leonardo Bonucci of Juventus have all been linked but Koulibaly is looking the more likely option at the moment.

The Senegal international, who made 33 Serie A appearances this season, still has three years left on his contract but with no sign of an extension being offered, he admits an exit could happen. “I have not talked to him but that may change soon,” Koulibaly told L’Equipe. “If nothing happens at Napoli, I will start to have contact with other clubs. “The game in England could be suitable for me but I like Italy. I’m not pressing for a transfer but I hope to sign a renewal with Napoli or we [will] proceed to other solutions.”

EL CLASICO GIANTS READY TO SEAL DEAL FOR CHELSEA STAR IF THEY MISS OUT ON ARSENAL ACE

According to reports from The Telegraph, Barcelona are ready to swoop for Chelsea star Cesar Azpilicueta should they miss out on priority transfer target Hector Bellerin.

Resident right-back Dani Alves is set to move to Juventus after winning three Champions League titles with the Catalans, who have earmarked Arsenal star Hector Bellerin as the Brazilian’s ideal replacement.

But the Gunners are reluctant to part with the 21-year-old, who claimed a place in last season’s PFA Team of the Year, andare ready to offer him an improved contract – which would rule out the possibility of a Nou Camp switch.

Should that be the case, the La Liga champions will turn their attentions to Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta, who has established himself as a key member of their starting Xi since signing from Marseille four years ago.

The 26-year-old can operate on either side of the defence but is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2019, so the Blues are under no pressing obligation to sell.

Falcao offered loan deal by Middlesbrough

The Colombia international has repeatedly flopped in the Premier League but the newly-promoted side are keen to give him a third chance to prove his worth in 2016-17.

Middlesbrough have offered Radamel Falcao a shock one-year loan deal, according to the Daily Express.

The Colombia international has twice flopped in the Premier League, with Manchester United and Chelsea, but the newly-promoted side are keen to give him a third chance at cracking England’s top-flight.

Falcao earns around £275,000-per-week at Monaco but could take a pay-as-you-play deal in order to stay in England.

Chelsea are underdogs – Hiddink

London – It is hard to imagine former boss Jose Mourinho ever calling Chelsea underdogs, but that’s how successor Guus Hiddink has described them before their Champions League Last 16 second leg clash against Paris St Germain on Wednesday.

The French champions head to Stamford Bridge for the third successive season, having knocked Chelsea out at the same stage a year ago. They are again favourites according to Hiddink, following their 2-1 victory in the first leg in Paris on Feb.16.

Chelsea interim boss Guus Hiddink says his team are the underdogs heading into their Champions League last 16 second leg tie against Paris St Germain. Credit: Reuters
The wily 69-year-old Dutchman may well be playing mind games, but, he says, “We are not the favourites. We have regained confidence and have quality, but let’s be very tough underdogs. We need to be angry in a controlled way on Wednesday, the players must be fully concentrated.”

Chelsea’s results have improved since Mourinho left in December, losing only once – at PSG – in 18 matches in all competitions. A 1-0 win now will be enough to see them through on away goals.

That is how they beat PSG in the quarter-finals two seasons ago and how PSG eliminated them last season. With the tie finely balanced that could well be the outcome again.

Chelsea will almost certainly be without injured skipper John Terry but striker Diego Costa should be fit after missing Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Stoke City with a minor tendon injury.

Former Chelsea defender David Luiz, who won the Champions League with Chelsea in 2012 and scored for PSG at Stamford Bridge last season, told uefa.com on Monday he will always have an affection for Chelsea after spending three seasons there. But he was determined to see PSG knock them out.

“My respect, my love for Chelsea, will always be the same,” the Brazil international said, “but I hope we can come out as winners there.

“London was a city and a club where I was very happy. I had some great moments there, but I am focused on my work, which is to play for PSG.”

PSG arrive on the back of some poor results after suffering their first Ligue 1 defeat in almost a year when they lost 2-1 at Olympique Lyonnais last weekend and drew 0-0 at home with Montpellier on Saturday.

Coach Laurent Blanc will probably have to replace key midfielder Marco Verratti with Argentine playmaker Javier Pastore because Verratti has a recurring groin problem.

France midfielder Blaise Matuidi should be fit after recovering from a thigh injury, while Lucas is expected to start on the left flank of the attack instead of Edinson Cavani, who scored PSG’s winning goal in Paris three weeks ago.

Chelsea Set To Beat Liverpool To Signing Of £23.5m Attacker

The opening of the summer transfer window is fast approaching so we’ll bring you all the latest transfer rumours and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are set to beat Liverpool to the signing of Yacine Brahimi…

Chelsea look set to beat Liverpool to the signing of £23.5m-rated attacker Yacine Brahimi with the player expected to leave Porto over the coming days, according to a report in O Jogo.

Brahimi has developed in to one of the best attackers in Portuguese football since joining Porto in 2014 and he scored 10 goals and provided 11 assists in his 49 appearances in all competitions last season.

That impressive form attracted interest from throughout Europe with O Jogo claiming that the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, AC Milan and Wolfsburg have all been showing a keen interest in signing the 26-year-old.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has already brought in three new players this summer with goalkeeper Loris Karius following defender Joel Matip and midfielder Marko Grujic to Anfield after completing his switch last month.

It looks as though the German coach is also keen to strengthen his attack and had identified Brahimi as a key target with A Bola reporting two weeks ago that Liverpool were close to securing a deal for the Algerian international.

However, it looks as though the Merseysiders could be set to miss out as fellow Portuguese outlet O Jogo are now claiming that Chelsea have moved in to pole position to land Brahimi this summer.

The report suggests that negotiations are at an advanced stage and while Porto are demanding £23.5m to sell the talented attacker, it’s understood a deal could be wrapped up over the coming days.

Incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte is expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer rebuilding the squad he’s inherited from Guus Hiddink and the Italian tactician is likely to want to reshape his attack after a disappointing campaign last season.

Brahimi is predominantly played on the left-wing but he’s capable of playing anywhere across the attacking positions so he’d give Conte plenty of options in the final third if he does end up moving to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Chelsea confirm Brazilian starlet Nathan has signed for Vitesse on loan

Chelsea have confirmed that promising midfielder Nathan will return to Vitesse for another loan next season.

Chelsea landed the 20-year-old from Atletico Paranaense last July and sent him straight out on loan to the Dutch club.

He made 18 Eredivisie appearances, scoring twice, and showed glimpses of why he is rated as one of the best young talents from Brazil.

And now he will get the chance to secure more senior first-team football in Holland after Chelsea agreed to send him to Vitesse for the whole of the coming season too.

Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta becomes Barcelona transfer target

Barcelona have reportedly added Chelsea full-back Cesar Azpilicueta to their list of transfer targets for this summer.

The Catalan giants are looking to replace the departing Dani Alves at right-back, but may have given up hope of landing Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin.

The Gunners ace had been a priority target for Barca, but it now looks as though he could pen a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.

According to the Daily Telegraph, this could lead Barcelona to look at Azpilicueta, who has been a solid performer for Chelsea down the years.
A very different style of full-back, Azpilicueta is not the type to go on Alves-like runs forward, but is versatile and reliable at the back.
The 26-year-old has a contract with Chelsea until 2019, though it remains to be seen if he could be lured away from the club after their horrific season in 2015/16, which saw them miss out on Europe altogether.

Chelsea eyeing transfer move for £20m-rated Stefano Sturaro

Chelsea are considering a transfer move for Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro as a possible alternative to Radja Nainggolan.

The Italy international is currently part of Antonio Conte’s Euro 2016 squad, and might be available for around £20million this summer.

The Blues are keen to strengthen in the middle of the park this summer, with Nemanja Matic potentially heading out of Stamford Bridge to follow Jose Mourinho to Manchester United.
According to The Sun, Sturaro is the latest defensive midfield player to emerge as a target for Conte.
Southampton have also shown an interest in the 23-year-old, but had a £15m offer turned down by the Serie A champions.

Chelsea could land Sturaro in a double raid on Conte’s old club, with Juve right-back Stephan Lichsteiner also a priority target for their new manager.

Conte and Chelsea opt against permanent Pato deal

The incoming Blues boss has decided not to keep the Corinthians loanee at Stamford Bridge next season after he made just two appearances in 2015-16.

New Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has chosen not to offer Alexandre Pato a permanent deal to stay with the Premier League outfit, Goal understands.

The 26-year-old’s deal expires at the end of the month and he only managed to make two appearances for the club after struggling to prove his fitness – scoring just one goal.

He had wanted to stay at Chelsea but Conte has instructed the club to turn their attentions to other transfer targets including Alvaro Morata, Romelu Lukaku and Gonzalo Higuain.

Conte is joining Chelsea after his Euro 2016 campaign with Italy, but in the meantime has helped give his club a shortlist of targets while his future club is currently in the process of reviewing their loan players.

His agent, Kia Joorabchian, exclusively told Goal in April that his ideal scenario without a Chelsea offer would be a move to another Premier League club and one that is London-based being a perfect option.

Conte was announced as Chelsea’s next manager on a three-year deal two days after the former AC Milan striker’s debut and Pato is unlikely to find another club in the coming weeks meaning he will return to Corinthians.

Pato will be patient over finding the right club and could wait until January when his Corinthians contract expires, leaving him available on a free transfer.

Manchester United looking to sign Chelsea target Bonucci

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is looking to sign the Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci for Manchester United.

The Juventus centre back is a target for Antonio Conte, but it seems that the new Manchester United manager is ready to hijack Chelsea’s move for the defender.

Bonucci has been linked with a move to the Premier League ever since there were talks of Conte taking over at Chelsea. Apparently, the Italian national team manager wants a reunion with Bonucci.

Mourinho is already close to completing a deal for Villarreal defender Eric Bailly and wants Bonucci to partner him at the back. The Portuguese manager is ready to get rid of Daley Blind this summer.

It is highly unlikely that Juventus would let go of one of their best players and even if he leaves there will several Champions League clubs wanting to sign him. Manchester United and Chelsea cannot offer him Champions League football next season.

However, they somehow manage to pull it off, it would be an outstanding signing. Bonucci is one of the best defenders in Europe right now and has the experience and ability to lay the defensive foundations of a title winning side.

Chelsea close to completing move for Yacine Brahimi

Chelsea are closing in on the signing of Porto winger Yacine Brahimi.

The winger was believed to be a target for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, but the Blues have moved quickly to beat their Premier League rivals.

Brahimi contributed with more than 20 goals plus assists last season and managed to impress in the Champions League.

According to latest reports, Chelsea are in the final stages of negotiations for the Porto winger and a deal should be completed soon. Initially Porto wanted to sell him for a sum of 30 million Euros, but due to FFP pressure, they are now looking to sell him for half the price.

Chelsea are in desperate need of another winger and signing Brahimi would be a very wise move. The Porto star is a very talented and is physically ready to cope with the demands of the Premier League. If Chelsea do manage to pull it off, he certainly has the talent to justify his 15 million Euros fee.
